On the 21st of December we celebrate the ‘shortest day’ with 108 Sun Salutations.
Are you ready for it? Of course you are!! It is not a class where we will have you grinding your teeth and swearing :) It is for all levels and you are free to take a break at any time.
Come along – you will be amazed by the joint group energy and meditational state we can reach together. And you’ll have the satisfaction of a ‘workout’ before the Christmas celebrations – a welcome bonus! :)
Hold on, I can hear you say. Why Sun Salutations when there is the least chance of sunlight on that particular day? Well, the shortest day or winter solstice is also seen as ‘a new beginning’ or ‘rebirth’. From then on the days will get longer again. Nature is strengthening herself and preparing for the next spring.
So why 108? Can we not just do one? Sure we can, but it would be a rather short class :)
The number 108 is in many cultures a sacred symbol. 108 “symbolises universal love, eternity and awaking.”Many Yogis like to use a necklace of 108 mala beads during a yoga flow or a meditation session. Additionally, in Ayurveda, which is a type of natural medicine used to bring the body into balance, there are 108 sacred points on the human body. Or if you’d rather give it a more scientific explanation, the distance between the sun and the earth is 108 times the sun’s diameter.
To join, just book the class in our schedule or contact me directly. See you there!!
