In the western world we know Middle Eastern dance mainly as "belly dance", which actually is a bit of a misnomer. Not only the belly, but the whole body is used to make the typical movements. These can be subtle and fluid as well as rhythmic and powerful. It truly is a dance for all ages, shapes and sizes. The benefits are unlimited: it improves your flexibility and strength, your balance improves, your abdominal and back muscles are worked in a gentle way. Moreover, it is just a fun way to move that improves body image and boosts self confidence!

What to wear? A bare belly is NOT required! You can wear anything that makes you feel good, just no jeans. We dance barefoot but bring some socks in case it gets cold. And of course, you need a scarf around your hips!
