How to perfect your Plank

 
 

What is a Plank?

A PLANK is a highly effective bodyweight exercise that is great for your CORE as well as overall STRENGTH. It also supports proper POSTURE and it will create body awareness and build more strength in your abdominals than traditional sit-ups . And since you don’t need any special gym equipment, you can actually do it anywhere. Result!

Together with the squat, this is a key move to master. Get this under your belt, and you will soon be able to build up to some awesome (aka proper show-off) bodyweight moves

6 steps to the perfect Plank

  1. Place your hands under your shoulders like you are about to a Push Up

  2. Point your fingers forwards

  3. Rotate your elbows so they are facing backwards and not outwards

  4. Make sure your head is in a neutral position to avoid strain in your neck

  5. Work your Abs, Glutes and Legs by applying tension to them - no-one should be able to knock you over from the side.

  6. Make sure you don’t sink down between your shoulder blades - keep you upper back stable
